Establishing OSIS Dian Harapan Highschool Kupang Branding
Initiating a Revolution
I stepped in as the head of Design and Human Resources for Dian Harapan High School's Student Council for the period of 2022-2023. The main gateway for the school's youth representatives was only Instagram and YouTube, as nearly all students are actively engaging on these platforms. Hence, the crucial value of social media itself is vital to resemble the professionalism, pride, and advancements that Dian Harapan portrays. Unfortunately, this particular goal has not been established by previous OSIS (Student Council) members. It lacks identity, as each Instagram post and story was seen to be standing on its own, without any identity to distinguish it from other pages.

The Mission
By March, the first concepts for a new branding were drawn. The challenge to build a sustainable and clean visual meets with the requirements to assimilate a concept that rhymes with the parent school branding. Shades of Blue and Yellow were chosen, along with an eagle to harmonize the spirit of Dian Harapan. The branding must retain characteristics of the parent page while being displayed as a modern and simple page for its target audience: the youth.

Drawing & Adjusting
Here is the outlined tracing for the main mascot. If you take a look back at the main branding figure previously, you will see that I made two mascot variations. Variation 1 was actually drawn with no reference whatsoever. Compare that to Variation 2, which has a more subtle curve and flow. I realized that the first variation does not fit well once it's installed as the Instagram profile picture, also following the commentary by some stating that the figure resembles a stingray.
The design cycle was then spread across the Instagram page @osis.sdhkupang and can be seen from its posts and stories. Though I only got a few months to handle the page, the branding is still intact and be applied. The success and efficiency were mentioned and appreciated by a broad range of school officials through school events, gatherings, and meetings. It was such an awesome and extraordinary experience for me.
